Seven Women Receive "Her Scholarship" Awards
The Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee, Inc. awarded $18,000 in Her Scholarships to seven non-traditional students who are pursuing four degree degrees at UW-Milwaukee, Alverno College, or Mount Mary College at a special reception on June 2, 2009.
Founded in 1994, the Her Scholarship Fund is a scholarship program for women over the age of 35 years seeking to complete degree programs at selected greater Milwaukee area colleges and universities. Since its inception, more than $100,000 has been given in scholarship awards. The Her Scholarship Committee’s annual reception provided an opportunity for donors to meet the seven scholars selected for 2009.
This year’s recipients include:
- Joanne Anderson, a Social Work major at the UW-Milwaukee and resident of Hartford;
- Kari Andrews, an Education major at the UW-Milwaukee and resident of Greenfield;
- Ann Gieschen-Salazar, a Nursing major at UW-Milwaukee and a resident of Wauwatosa;
